Game Rules

When booking, all participants are agreeing to follow these rules. Curious Cats Malta (i.e. the Organisers) may update or change these conditions and rules at any time without prior notice.

1. Arrival Time
  • All vehicles and participants must arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
  • The Game will begin on time and end on time. Late arrivals will not be given extra time.
2. Age Requirements

  • The Game is designed for participants 18 years and older.

  • Participants aged 12–17 may join only with written consent from a parent or legal guardian and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

  • Proof of age (ID card, passport, or birth certificate) may be requested.

3. Driving Rules

  • Every vehicle must have a designated driver with a valid driving license.

  • Drivers must show their license to the Organisers before starting the Game.

  • Teams without a licensed driver will not be allowed to participate.

  • While on public roads, drivers must at all times comply with all applicable road traffic and parking laws, signs, signals, speed limits and directions of police/road authorities. 

  • Without limitation, the following are strictly prohibited: 

    • speeding;

    • aggressive or dangerous manoeuvres (tailgating, weaving, harsh braking, drifting/burnouts);

    • running red lights/stop signs;

    • handheld mobile-phone use;

    • reading clues while driving;

    • impaired driving (alcohol/drugs, including impairing medication);

    • carrying unrestrained passengers;

    • blocking intersections or travelling in a convoy that impedes other traffic;

    • stopping in traffic lanes;

    • trespassing or parking illegally.

  • Any device used for navigation/clues must be hands-free or securely mounted. If interaction is required, the vehicle must be safely parked in a legal location before doing so. A passenger may assist with navigation while the vehicle is moving.

  • Seatbelts (and child restraints where required) must be worn at all times. Drivers must be fit to drive and should take breaks if fatigued.

  • Only stop or park where it is lawful and safe. Do not obstruct traffic, driveways, pedestrian crossings or emergency access.

  • The Organiser may, at its sole discretion, issue warnings, apply time/score penalties, neutralise stage times, or exclude any Participant/Team from the Event without refund for suspected or reported breaches of driving rules. 

  • Traffic infringements, fines, towing, and damages remain the sole responsibility of the Lead Participant/Team. The Organiser may cooperate with law enforcement.

  • By taking part, the team and all team members accept responsibility for their designated driver’s actions and agree to participate at their own risk, in compliance with this clause and all Safety Rules.

4. Safety & Wellbeing
  • Some challenges may require physical movement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Each participant is responsible for managing their own health and safety during the event.
  • The Organisers are not liable for any accidents, incidents, or injuries that may occur during the Game.
5. Compliance
  • Failure to follow these rules will result in immediate denial of entry or removal from the Game, with no refund issued.

Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Curious Cats Malta! By booking a Game with us, you agree to the terms and conditions below. These terms explain how bookings work, what is expected from you and your group, how payments and cancellations are handled, and other important rules.

1. About Us

Curious Cats Malta provides organised driving and puzzle-solving experiences across the Maltese islands (“the Game”). 

 

2. Making a Booking

  • The person who places the booking (“the Lead Participant”) must be at least 18 years old.

  • By booking, the Lead Participant confirms that:

    • All participants have been informed of these terms and accept them.

    • Information provided during booking is complete and accurate.

    • They are responsible for all payments linked to the booking.

    • At least one person per vehicle possesses a valid driving license, suitable for driving in Maltese roads.

  • Bookings are confirmed only once the Full-Payment is processed and a confirmation email has been issued.

3. Payments

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm participation in the Game. This policy ensures that all preparations can be completed in advance and that your reservation is fully secured. Requiring payment upfront allows the activity to begin promptly and ensures a smooth experience for all participants.

  • Bookings are limited to a maximum of five (5) vehicles per booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Changes and Cancellations by the Lead Participant

A – Cancellations by the Lead Participant:

  • Cancellations by the Lead Participant are non-refundable.

B – Rescheduling (date/time changes):

  • The Lead Participant may request a change to the booking date and/or time by notifying us in writing at least five (5) days before the event start time.

  • The new date/time must be scheduled within ninety (90) days of the original booking date.

  • We will use reasonable efforts to accommodate your request. If we are unable to accommodate the requested change and you choose not to proceed with the original booking, this will be treated as a cancellation by the Lead Participant (non-refundable).

C – Changing the number of vehicles:

  • You may request to increase or reduce the number of vehicles by notifying us in writing at least five (5) days before the event.

  • We reserve the right to decline requests to add vehicles made fewer than five (5) days prior to the event.

D – Increasing the number of vehicles:

  • Additional vehicles will be charged at the published pricing for the specific game, provided the request is made at least five (5) days before the event date.

  • Full payment for any additional vehicles is due immediately upon our written confirmation of availability.

  • If payment is not received within the required timeframe before the event, we may deny participation of the additional vehicle(s).

E – Reducing vehicles:

  • If you reduce the number of vehicles at least five (5) days before the event:

    • A minimum of one (1) vehicle must remain on the booking; otherwise, it is treated as a cancellation by the Lead Participant (non-refundable).

    • We will calculate the difference between the original lump-sum paid and the revised total (as per the published pricing for the specific game). Fifty percent (50%) of that difference will be refunded.

  • If you reduce the number of vehicles fewer than five (5) days before the event, no refund will be provided.

F – Short-notice requests:

  • Requests made with less than five (5) days’ notice may not be accommodated and may be treated as a cancellation by the Lead Participant.

  • All requests must be in writing and addressed to Curious Cats. Eligibility for changes/refunds is based on the timestamp of your written communication received by us.

5. Our Right to Cancel or Modify

We may cancel or stop participation without refund if:

  • Participants do not attend or refuse to complete the mandatory safety briefing.

  • The Lead Participant fails to communicate the Group’s late arrival to the Organisers. The Organisers will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes from the official start time of the Game.

  • Any participant is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Aggressive, abusive, or unsafe behaviour is displayed.

  • Safety instructions provided by staff are ignored.

In exceptional circumstances outside our control (see “Force Majeure”), we may need to cancel or reschedule an event. In such cases, you may move your booking to another date or accept a credit note of equivalent value.

 

6. Safety & Participation

  • All participants must attend a health and safety briefing before starting the Game.

  • The designated driver is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy and insured in line with Maltese law.

  • Participation is at your own risk. We strongly recommend that drivers and passengers are covered by personal accident and travel insurance.

  • Please contact us in advance regarding any medical or accessibility concerns.

7. Prices

  • The price confirmed at the time of booking is the price payable for your Game.

  • We may update prices for future bookings, but confirmed bookings will not be affected.

8. Liability

  • We will organise and manage the Game with reasonable skill and care.

  • Our liability is limited to the amount you have paid for your booking.

  • We are not responsible for loss, damage, or costs caused by:

    • Failure to follow instructions,

    • Vehicle breakdowns, incidents and/or accidents,

    • Personal property left unattended,

    • Circumstances outside our reasonable control.

9. Force Majeure

Events outside our control (such as severe weather, strikes, government action, road closures or natural disasters) may force us to cancel, postpone or alter the Game. If a Force Majeure Event prevents us from delivering the Game, we will communicate the outcome to the Lead Participant as soon as practically possible. If the Game is postponed, the fees paid by the Lead Participant will be applied to the rescheduled date. If the Game cannot be rescheduled within 90 days, the Lead Participant may elect a credit valid for 12 months or a refund of fees paid for undelivered services, less non-recoverable third-party costs evidenced on request. Amounts relating to services already provided are non-refundable. Except as stated, the Organiser shall have no liability for consequential losses (e.g., travel, accommodation).

 

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malta. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.

 

11. Final Provisions

  • Only the Lead Participant (including the group members) and Curious Cats Malta have rights under this agreement.

  • If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the remaining sections will still apply.

  • We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on our website at the time of your booking will apply.
